This wedding held so many wonderful details. Pearls that were Karen’s Grandmother’s, given to her Grandmother on her wedding day. Cuff links that belonged to Jake’s Grandfather. It is these little touches that lend to the overall wonder of the day. Bowie Tuesday: Lynden Fair

One of summer’s adventures that I look forward to every year comes along right around the time the corn grows taller than me. A means of measuring time I have borrowed from my friend Jenn. The Lynden Fair is a day filled with rides, farm animals, and most importantly a moo-wich (possibly the yummiest treat known to man.) Lynden is a bit of a jaunt up north, but when the journey is equally fun as the event, you know you’ve chosen the right friends to make the trip.

This would be Addison’s first roller coaster. She didn’t have a moments hesitation. Of course, she was sitting next to her big brother Landon and it’s her dream of dreams to be just like him.

Those slides are not meant for anyone taller than a step ladder. Awkward doesn’t begin to describe it.

So glad to have the memories to add to the summer’s collection. I’ll be counting the days til a little moo-wich lovin comes my way again.

Play Day at the Park: Greenlake

Greenlake, windy weather, adorable kids, pinwheels and a whole lot of enthusiastic fun! Our Play Day at the Park this year was a triumphant success. It is always fun to romp around the Greenlake Park and explore, our challenge is to remember to capture it all while we play. You may not be able to tell, but this cuter-than-a-baby panda little girl was battling the morning chill and runny nose with charm and curiosity. She clearly came out the victor.

Bowie Tuesday: The Great Divide

Sometimes I wonder if it wouldn’t have been easier to have lived closer to 1810 instead of 2010. Then, I ponder the luxuries of say indoor plumbing or electricity and I doubt the glamorized version of pre-paved street days that read very much like Pride & Prejudice in my head. Needless to say, Mike and I would not be having the same commuter car showdown in 1810 as we do in present day. I feel confident that the choices between wagons did not hold a candle to today’s automobile options. The cool factor probably determined more by quality springs and literal horse power and a lot less on horsepower and say, navigation. Man alive, there is much to compromise on in this decision process. Perhaps we should just return to bike riding and close in our radius a bit. Or not, I’d miss my friends and Costco trips would be incredibly beasty. Surely the answer is just waiting in the next lot with our name written in block letter on the windshield. That would help. There is no hard line decision in our future, but I thought I’d share two of the options that have been put upon the table and let you guess the backer of each choice. Just to be clear, this is to be our commuter car. Good gas mileage, safety & frugality being key components, or so I thought.

Kristi & Colby: Wildly Entertaining

There are a few things to know about a photobooth.

1. Inhibitions run for the door when a box of props appear. Contrary to what some think, we can still recognize you with a fake mustache or boa.

2. It is all ages appropriate (as demonstrated clearly below)

3. We are not held responsible for crazy, out of character merriment that will most likely surprise even yourself, especially if it is evenings end and the bar has been generous.

This could be my favorite of all time.

Bowie Tuesday: It is what it is

Okay, I’m just going to say it. I let my self image insecurities rob me of Bowie Tuesday last week. How lame is that really? Didn’t stop me from eating a pretty dog gone wonderful Gorilla ice cream cookie treat, but it did put the breaks on my blog post. After returning from Chelan I was looking through some of the family photos Rylee took for us. It was a bit of a rushed affair since I had put off the task til Rylee was literally loading the car to leave and there was no way I was going to convince Landon & Addison to get out of the pool for a photo. So we compromised and took pictures in the pool. In bathing suits. Turns out, no surprise to myself or woman anywhere, that I don’t particularly like pictures of myself in a swimsuit. And when I say I don’t like them, I mean that after looking at them for about 3 seconds I shut my computer and decided Bowie Tuesday was cancelled for the week. After a week of reflection, self talks and commiserating with friends I have decided to be brave, throw pride to the wind and just put it out there. I also decided to start running again. You never know where the motivation will come. Here are our 2010 family photos, soon to be added to our collection on the wall. If nothing else, it’ll make you smile.

Jeff & Kelsey: Snohomish Engagment

Beautiful. Kelsey is just stunning and I cannot wait to see her as a bride. We wondered around Snohomish the other morning for our engagement session with Jeff & Kelsey and had the pleasure of celebrating Kelsey’s birthday with photos followed by a delicious breakfast. Is there a better way to celebrate? Thank you for sharing your birthday with us and allowing us to spend a little time enjoying the relaxing, comfortable and very sweet relationship that you and Jeff share.

Sundquist Thursday: Bowie-Sundquist Vacation Part II

We enjoyed a delicious breakfast the other morning at Blueberry Hills in Manson. While waiting for our table we ventured out with buckets to pick some juicy, simply wonderful blueberries. Not a bad way to kill time. I’m absolutely certain that Addison ate way more than made their way into the bucket, but who could blame her. Blueberries are pretty wonderful, especially right from the bush. Nadia missed the berry picking, but I imagine she may have been dreaming of the day she too will don her pink backpack and fill her bucket to the brim. So many memories, we can only hope to keep them vivid enough to add some warm & happy to dreary winter days.

We start them early. This camera actually tells you that you are ‘pretty as a princess’ after every shot. If that’s not edifying, I don’t know what is.

Definitely, pretty as a princess.

Can you tell the resemblance? Yeah, you can. It’s uncanny.

This is a little picture of Landon in his happy place. Legos, fudgesicles, a favorite person to share it with and it’s not even noon. Good times indeed.

Not perfect unless you are watching Star Wars while building Star Wars legos. But everybody knows that.

Smores in honor of National Smores Day, or really in honor of the fact that smores are so darn amazing and should be eaten at every opportunity presented. Could three ingredients be more perfectly suited? I think not.

Karen & Jake: Engagement

Looking forward to Jake & Karen’s wedding this Saturday at the Woodland Park Zoo. Before the big day we thought we should give everyone a chance to see this handsome couple in something other than wedding finery. We walked the streets of Ballard and enjoyed their company on a sunny morning, and the company of their three lovable dogs. How great is Karen’s dress?! The colors alone won me over, but then she had to go and show me the pockets. Pretty much fabulous. See you Saturday!
