I have literally known this family since I was 13. I still remember seeing Carrie walk into Mrs. Gann’s homeroom class, the new transfer to our school, and just knowing we would be friends. Having never really struggled with shyness I invited her to sit next to me and the rest is pretty much history. A terrific history of a genuine, uncomplicated friendship that makes my heart grow two sizes. A recent move over the mountains has added a little glitch to our weekly visits, but really if your friendship can survive junior high, it can make it through anything.

Lately I feel like I’ve been living life in ‘hurry up’ mode. Getting up earlier, calendar fuller, more doing and less enjoying. My good friend Carrie shared this quote with me yesterday and it made me tear up. How many memories do I have that are being captured in fast forward or 50% attention? Too many. Time to slow down a little and really embrace the moments. And the little people that make my heart so full.

Welcome Fall

We celebrated the first day of Fall yesterday (and my good friend Jana’s birthday!) by heading to Mukilteo BeachPark. 87 degrees, windy and so much fun. If this is fall, I’ll take it.

Mike & Lacey: Part I

A few weeks back I had the opportunity to second shoot for one of my most favorite people in the world Jenn Apps. It is always a fabulously fun day when we get to spend time together and the fun is only amplified when we get to do so while shooting a remarkable wedding. Mike & Lacey’s day was incredibly sweet, their love story is a long one and it is evidenced by their many glances, comfortable ease and obvious adoration for one another. Reason number 5 billion ninety eight that I relish the gift of participating in wedding celebrations and witnessing the beauty of a couple’s love story being told. It is truly amazing. I had not met Mike or Lacey before the morning of their wedding but left feeling very much like we needed to become facebook friends immediately so that I could continue to enjoy the adventure they are traveling. Not in the creepy stalker way that sort of sounded, but because after spending a day with this genuine & endearing couple you can’t help but count them as friends and know that you are fortunate to do so.

Beach Exploration: Carkeek Park

There is something almost magical about the beach. Especially for kids. Given the opportunity to romp around exploring God’s wonders strewn around with abandon. The only problem I can see is getting those inquisitive little eyes to turn my direction for a few photos. My favorites though are the natural, genuine joy in the play. Observing and not orchestrating the fun unfolding. Thank you for playing and letting me join.

Dump truck, sand and a bucket. A guaranteed formula for success. Landon’s favorite book used to be titled ‘I Love Diggers.’ I couldn’t help but be reminded as the sand poured in and out of this little truck.

I love a really prepared mom. We had snacks, sand toys, and last but not least, BUBBLES! No matter the age bubbles can make you smile.

I thought I’d save my favorite for last. I don’t even know what it is, but it makes my heart warm and cozy. Maybe it’s the small smile, sand on his bubble wand, slight breeze blowing the baby fine hair or those incredible long lashes. Maybe I’ll just smile and know it makes me happy.

Silke & Brandon’s wedding day felt very much like celebrating with friends. Such warm, relaxing fun as we traveled the day towards the beautiful ceremony. Their story is rich in love and genuine caring between one another as well as close friends and family. We are so happy to have been part of Your Day and to count you both as friends. Sundquist Thursday: Easter Egg Hunt

Nadia is natural egg hunter. I didn’t expect her to know what to do, but after her practice run at the Mountlake Terrace hunt, she was ready to go on Easter Sunday at the grandparents. The only hitch in the hunting was when she discovered that the eggs had prizes inside…then it was more about opening eggs than finding them.

In this case, dog is woman’s best friend. Georgia is Lesley’s room mate, baby, running buddy and friend. It makes me want a dog…oh wait…I already have enough little mess makers at my house.
