On to the reception! Lindsey and Kevin had a quaint backyard reception at her parents house. Her mom planted the garden entirely in purple to match the decor. It was relaxed, beautiful, and fun for all.

For reception entertainment, Lindsey & Kevin chose our photobooth. It’s a great way to get pictures of all your guests having a good time. Ask us about on site printing, which makes great wedding favors.

Wedding Wednesday: Dresses

One of the best parts of wedding planning is dress shopping. You get one chance to go to all the shops, drape yourself in silk and tulle and poofy skirts and twirl around like Scarlet O’Hara in a huge ballgown, and no one says boo. From a girl who ended up with two dresses, one good and one bad, take my advice about dress shopping. First, go to as many stores as you can since this is the only time in your life that you’ll get to do this. Plus, there are so many great bridal shops in our area. Second, don’t buy the dress the day you first see it. Go home, sleep on it, and check out the picture you took of yourself wearing it to make sure that you love it. Don’t end up like me, staring at the dress that hangs in your closet wondering what on earth you were thinking when you agreed with the sales girl. Third, only bring a few people with you, and make sure that they are people who love you enough to tell you if something looks awful, but that they also love you enough to know that it’s YOUR day and YOUR style…they’ll just let you know if your hips look two sizes bigger. Oh, and make sure that they are confident enough to run interference with overly pushy sales people so you don’t have to deal with that. Fourth and last tip, buy or dig up a cute hanger so that when your dress has it’s photo debut on the wedding day it isn’t hanging below a “We heart our customers” dry cleaning hanger. It doesn’t have to be real special, just wood or cloth covered, and do your photographer a favor and get one with a swiveling hook so that it’s easy to hang on a door for photos.

Here are some beautiful dresses from La Belle Elaine’s, one of the high end shops in Seattle. The best part of their store – a runway! Work it, girl!

The Princess Bride is another little shop that is near and dear to my heart – it’s where I found my good dress. They are smaller, but they have a great selection, including one of my favorite brands, Pronovias (also available at La Belle Elaine’s). Plus, they are in Bothell so you don’t have to mess with downtown parking. There is also a tux place inside so you can one stop shop if you’d like.

EDITED* Belltown Bride is the best dress shop for making your money go farther that I’ve found. This shop is basically a year round sample sale. Their dresses are all professionally cleaned and ready to be taken home for a fraction of the retail price.

Wedding Wednesday: Vintage Themes

Welcome to the first installment of Wedding Wednesday! As professionals in the wedding industry (and as girls who like cool stuff, for that matter), we have become fairly savvy at what is out there, and we’ve got pictures to prove it! So, why not share what we like, what we see and what advice we have give in order to help you all plan successful, relaxing and beautiful weddings.

One of my favorite elements that has been cropping up this year is vintage detail. Brides are using antique items as well as new items in vintage styles and either go all the way with them or mix them into modern elements for a fun, eclectic look. Here are some of the fun ideas we’ve seen.

Silver service pieces. Brides shopped antique stores, second hand shops and their own family pieces, then mixed and matched to create a varied, yet pulled together look.

This bride used an antique typewriter as her guest book. The old styling of the machine makes a beautiful decoration, as well as a fun way to gather well wishes from guests.

Vintage clothing and accessories for the bride (or groom for that matter) make a bold statement, or like the dress belonging to this bride’s grandmother, a sentimental and sweet one.

Upcycled old pieces for centerpieces. When you bring together several small objects and anchor them with one large piece, you’ve got a full and fun table decoration. This bride used old fashioned punch cups for her flowers, antique lamps she found second hand with candles replacing the bulbs for the lighting, and vintage candy dishes filled with their favorite treats, laid out on scrapes of old lace.

Kelsey & Jeff: Ritter Farm Wedding Part 2

It’s January, and it’s finally hit me. I’ve just now got the “clean slate” bug that makes me want to tear down my house and build it back up. I’ve started in a very small way by deciding that I will begin preparing for things farther in advance than one day. To start me off right, I’ve already begun making the decorations for Nadia’s first birthday party. I’m so excited for her! I’ll be crafting and baking and doing all sorts of fun stuff to tranform my house into First Birthday Central, and I hope to give Nadia a party she won’t forget. Well, at least one she won’t forget until the next day. Be patient, and I promise I’ll share all the goodness I’ve got in store. I even made a recent trip to Pottery Barn kids and picked up some birthday prizes for her. That shopping trip definitely didn’t help me in my urges to redo my house.

Allena & Jeff: Part I

What a beautiful, bright, sunny winter day we were fortunate enough to enjoy for Jeff & Allena’s wedding day. The day was a relaxed celebration of a couple who are the best kind of compliment to one another. And they love to laugh. It is my own personal, completely unverified, opinion that a couple that laughs and simply enjoys the everyday with one another is set for life. There is no mountain too big or valley too dreary.

The boys had a sweet ride to get things started. Although equipped to pick up an entire town, the nine of us chose instead to take advantage of the all the leg room in the charter bus with barney purple interior.

First stop, downtown Snohomish for a little lunch and refreshments. Off to Fred’s Rivertown Alehouse.

It’s not every bar that uses a classic roadster like this beauty as decoration. I liked Fred just that much more.

Allena wore her grandmother’s wedding gown for the cocktail hour, and her own flouncy number for the ceremony and reception. Gotta love a girl who can pull of those pink shoes!
