As it goes, this week has not been my favorite. The typical snowball effect of lots of smallish things clinging together to make for a rather defeating battle. The list is long, but I’ll give you a small glimpse of three of my battles lost. It began rather insignificantly with the discovery that my instant hot water dispenser had been secretly dripping water under my sink for quite some time. Needless to say this unfortunate turn of events is not catastrophic, but merely an inconvenience. Turn it off, consider replacing or scrapping the whole convenience, and move on. Done and done.
This was followed closely (the very same evening) with a chain of events that led to my laptop screen cracking. On a scale of 1-10, I was ruling this about a 5. Made my stomach a little sick, made me retrace my steps a million times in true masochistic fashion to see all the ways this could have been avoided. The forever list of ‘if-I’d-only’. Still, Rylee’s super husband assured me that this could be fixed even though AppleCare did not actually care about this problem and so I resolved to work on ordering the new screen and focusing on never letting this happen again.
Moving forward but one more day and I’m met with the straw. You know, the one that finally takes down the camel. My straw came in the form of a five year old scissor wielding hairdresser who learned how to ’safely’ use scissors at preschool. Kudos to Landon for not taking an eye out, but seriously, I unashamedly admit that I cried upon discovery. It is only hair. It will grow back. No one was hurt. I know all of these things and still I cried. Addison looked very much like one of my Barbies after I lopped off their hair willy nilly when I was little. He was gracious enough to hide the pile of hair under some pillows so that the discovery came in waves. All of the damage took about 20 minutes. 20 minutes I thought they were just playing nicely in Addison’s kitchen. I’m better now and I see how this will be a story that will live on in family lore, however I’m still a little taken aback each morning or when she wakes from a nap. I’m also stockpiling headbands, bows and all things girly to give the girl a chance for the next few months. Next week is bound to improve.

The transformation done by my incredible friend Lori, who managed to get us in first thing the next morning. Way to make trendy out of riotous disaster.

Clearly Addison is unfazed by her new hairdo. I think she’s just glad not to have hair in her face anymore. Who knows, maybe she asked Landon to cut it for her.
