Seeing a place for the first time is a treasure. Actually seeing, and not just going about the activity. I spend much of my life moving from place to place or just busy doing, not nearly enough time is spent just looking and enjoying. The last day of Rylee and my trip to New Orleans we woke up early, 3 am our time if I remember groggily, and walked through the streets near our hotel with several other photographer friends as the sun was rising. Just looking. Experiencing. Enjoying. If life is truly about the details, it’s a wonder that I don’t stop more often to admire them all. What an amazing story there is to discover when I slow down and really look around. If I came home with nothing but the inspiration to keep exploring my own life in the same way, everyday, I would count it an invaluable trip. Coupled with the new friendships made and incredible information learned in the workshop sessions, I’d say I’ve been given a gift I had better not waste. New Orleans in an hour, pretty interesting.

Rylee & I ended every evening here enjoying a fabulous beignet. If you’ve never tried one, it may be worth the trip alone.
